West Trip 2019 #8 Lake Louise

August 17-18

We left Banff for a short trip to Lake Louise area.  This is a busy area in August.  We ended up at Lake Louise trailer campground.  It has great pull through for any size rig. However there is a train track near that is active all night.
After getting settled for the night we unloaded the bikes and was going to ride to Lake Louise.  After getting to the road heading up the mountain we decided that 4 miles up hill on a busy road with no shoulders was not a good idea.  Back to camp and put the bikes away.  Guess we will just have to get in the line of traffic with the truck heading up to Lake Louise.

It is a beautiful area and was able to find a place to park for the short walk to Lake Louise. After taking in the beauty and crowds...We decided to explore the area and headed north to Bow Lake and Peyto lake driving the ice fields parkway and stopping often at the pull-offs to take in the fantastic scenery.

Peyto lake
We only went as far north as Peyto lake knowing the next day we would be passing this way again.  We hiked up to the upper overlook and WOW...  This is gorgeous,  the camera just cannot capture the immense area view.  Headed back towards camp and seen a moose on the side of the road but that was about it for wildlife.

Tomorrow we will get an early start and follow the Icefields parkway to Jasper.

See Ya Then,
Tom
