West trip 2019 #9 Ice Fields Parkway to Jasper

August 18th- 20th, 2019

    Up early and heading toward Jasper NP via the Icefields parkway.  We have scheduled a tour of Athabasca glacier today.   After yesterday I know we will have many stops to admire the beauty of the Canadian Rockies so we pace ourselves as we make our way north.




The Icefields Pkwy has to be one of the most beautiful drives we have ever done.

   After a wonderful time on the Athabasca glacier we continue north to the Wabasso campground in Jasper National park Alberta Canada.

2020 West Trip # 4 Theodore Roosevelt National Park

 Sept 4th-7th    We had a leisure morning since we would only travel 100 miles today.  Seems most campgrounds were full or closed.  We found Oleo Acres Rv Park located half way between the North and South units of TRNP for a great price with full hookups.  Once we arrived and setup camp we headed to the north unit. The next day it was the South unit and the town of Medora's turn for exploration.   Chateau De Mores the little cottage of  Antoine de Vallombrosa, the Marquis de Mores Roosevelt cabin      We have enjoyed our visit here but we need to make Seattle by September 16th so time to head West tomorrow. West Trip 2019 #13 Mt. Rainier National Park

Aug 24th-26th   We are headed to Mt. Rainier NP this morning.  It is suppose to take 3 hrs and 41 minutes but when you tow a camper add 40% or so.    We looked at a couple of campgrounds in the park but they are full.  We found a NF campground just outside called Buck Creek and it was free for us old folks :)  no hookups and no water available.  It's located next to Rangers airstrip were small planes can land and Helicopters take off to perform rescues on Mt. Rainer Finally some boondocking for free.  We settled in and prepared for exploring.  Decided to drive some of the park to help prepare a plan for hikes tomorrow. Next day we headed to Sunrise visitor center to do some hiking.  Our 1st hike was up to Sourdough ridge. Then we headed to Emmons vista and on to Silver forest.
