West trip #7 Banff, Alberta Canada

August 15th-17th
  Our 1st border crossing today.  We drove to Roosville Alberta to cross.  I thought I had researched well on crossing so when I declared my 12 ga. shotgun and turned away I was surprised.   Come to find out that because We where heading to Canadian national parks (Banff and Jasper), no firearms are allowed and I could not bring them into Canada.😠  I had two choices, give up the gun or go back to Eureka Montana and ship it home, except we would not be home for 2 months.   Well I was not giving it up so back to Eureka and find a way to ship a firearm.  FedEx... nope... UPS... no, ended up going to a pawn shop and they could ship it to my daughter Kimberly in Virginia.  So $75 dollars later back to the crossing and on to Banff. 


 We had some great views on the way and seen our 1st Bighorn sheep about a half mile after entering the Banff NP.  Made our way to Tunnel Mountain trailer park and did some site seeing around the town of Banff.




 The next day continued exploring the Banff area.









Time to pack up and get ready for our next stop..  Lake Louise  :)

2020 West Trip # 4 Theodore Roosevelt National Park

 Sept 4th-7th    We had a leisure morning since we would only travel 100 miles today.  Seems most campgrounds were full or closed.  We found Oleo Acres Rv Park located half way between the North and South units of TRNP for a great price with full hookups.  Once we arrived and setup camp we headed to the north unit. The next day it was the South unit and the town of Medora's turn for exploration.   Chateau De Mores the little cottage of  Antoine de Vallombrosa, the Marquis de Mores Roosevelt cabin      We have enjoyed our visit here but we need to make Seattle by September 16th so time to head West tomorrow. 2020 West Trip #5 Heading to Leavenworth, Wa

 Sept 7th - 11th    We have 2 long days of driving to make Leavenworth Washington.  We had planned to stay at a Boondockers welcome site 25 miles north of Yellowstone but it was snowing and we did not want to chance getting stuck so we found Mountain View campground next to I-90 to spend the night.  Next day we continued west through Bozeman pass.  It was beautiful with the snow and the road was pretty decent for driving.       We continued driving all day.  We also started encountering the smoke from wildfires.  We stopped at a rest area on I-90 mile marker 58 and found a nice campground called Quartz flat as part of the rest stop and even went under I-90 to other side.  It was a national forest campground so no hookups but  did  have a dump station.    We made it to Leavenworth and setup camp at Alpine View campground.  With Kira we needed electric to run AC as it had warmed up here and this camp...
