West Trip 2019 #11 Cascades National Park
Aug 20th-22nd 2019
Up early and headed for Washington. As we traveled through British Columbia we seen Elk and more beautiful views. We stopped by Rearguard falls but didn't see any salmon running.
We spent 1 night in Merrit BC at the Moon Shadow RV park. Went through some sketchy areas to get to it but was nice once we got there with full hookups and a stream running beside it.
Next day we move on to Marblemont Washington and the Howard Miller Steelhead County park. A very nice county RV park on the Skagit river. We had been lucky so far on this trip with the weather but today was rainey and foggy. Guess we are in the Northwest now...LOL..
We settled in for the night to sound of the river flowing just behind us. The next morning we headed to Cascades NP. The weather was still dismal and we didn't see many mountain tops. We did some short hikes to overlooks and made the best of it.
Well as they say "sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you" or "when your given lemons make lemonade". So we went to a winery for a tasting... LOL. I tried several wines including one that was harvested after a forest fire. The owners and friends battled the fire around the vineyard to save the harvest. This wine had a very Smokey flavor.
Well tomorrow we head for Olympic National Park.
See Ya There,
Tom
