2020 West Trip #3 Heading to North Dakota

 Sept 1- 4

We left Michigan and began our journey west.  Our first stop was at a Boondockers welcome site.  This was our first time using Boondockers welcome and we were their first guest.  An awesome couple with a small farm on the Swan river.  Plenty of free cukes and apples and some of the largest pumpkins I've ever seen.  Also had Electric and water.  These folks lost a son this year and was one of the sweetest couples we meet on this trip.   They took over their sons dream farm after his death and was using it to help folks and as a wedding venue.  We just stayed the one night before moving on to our next stop.

Our next stop was Stanton, ND.  After a long drive we wanted to spend 2 nights here.  We picked a city park campground called Sakakawea city park.  Nice park during the week when we were there.  It sits on the the Knife river and nearby there is the Knife River National Historic site describing the native Hidatsa, Arikara and Mandan native peoples and the Lewis & Clark expedition .  This is where they found Sacagawea, the guide that took them to the Pacific.

The next day we visited the Lewis and Clark interpretive center and Fort Mandan on the Missouri river near Washburn ND.

Tomorrow we will leave for Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

See Ya Then,

Tom, Pat and Kira
